Resolution:

When Haven realizes the past is the past and she needs to live in the present and stop trying to bring back the past and just live and be happy.

Climax:

When Haven runs away in the story because she feels as if she cant deal with the stress anymore.

Begining:

When Sarah's mom decides to go out of town, she is forced to stay with her dad during the summer and his new wife.

Sarah Dessen:

The author of That Summber , Sarah Dessen was born in Evanston, Illinois on June 6, 1970. She now lives in Norh Carolina with her husband, Jay Dessen and has a daughter whose name is Sasaha Clementine. She graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill , with honers. She was a waitress before becoming a teach at UNC , and then she left her job to become a full time author.

Theme:

The theme of the story is change, Haven goes through a change while spending time with Sumner. Also her dad goes through the change when he marries Lorna.

Main Characters:

Haven: The Protagonist , Very tall and feels caught between two weddings that she doesn't want to happen, her only escape Sumner.

Sumner: Haven's escape from everything, the one that makes her feel like life is perfect again.

Ashley: Haven's sister.

Haven's Dad: Cheated on Haven's mom and is marrying the woman he cheated on her with.

Summary

That Summer is about a girl named Haven getting trapped by two wedding that she does not want to happen at all. In the story her father is marrying a woman whom he cheated with on Haven's mother. The other wedding, her sister's , Ashley is marrying a boring man that Haven does not approve of.  During the story Haven runs into Sumner, Ashley's old boyfriend, who was Haven's favorite. While begining to spend time with Sumner Haven begins to like him, but later finds out it wasn't Ashley's fault for the break up. It was Sumner's for cheating on her.
